Denver Publishing Institute
Before Flyaway was published in 2009, it was chosen as the book on which the Denver Publishing Institute’s Marketing class would focus and I addressed the graduating class.
I combine photographs and great stories from around the country to show the wide variety of wild birds my fellow rehabbers and I have rescued and cared for. I highlight how people can avoid injuring them, and describe how working with wildlife inspired my books.
My audiences range from school groups to adults, from fellow wildlife people to those unfamiliar with conservation and wildlife rehabilitation.
I'm board president of Raptor Rescue and Research, the American sister nonprofit to Wildlife Rescue, a bird rehab organization in Delhi, India. Wildlife Rescue is the subject of the 2022 film All That Breathes, which won Best Documentary at Sundance, Cannes and numerous other festivals. It was a finalist at the 2023 Academy Awards and can now be seen on HBO Max.
